Meet the teacher night is this Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. This is an informal session where you are able to meet your son's/daughter's teacher. We will be happy to answer any general questions you may have during this time. Hope to see you there !! BONJOUR PARENTS !!
Here are a few important things to keep in mind for this week : 1- Students are settling in here at Bayside. It's nice to see such a great group of students that will take part in the immersion program this year. 2- A lot sheets have gone home (or should have) yesterday. These are to be filed out and returned ASAP to school. 3- Student fee is 30$ and can be paid online or by sending money (or cheque) to school. 4- Picture day is THIS Friday, Sept. 7th. 5- Meet the teacher night will be next Thursday, Sept. 13th from 6h30-8h00. 6- Students should be bringing in an English book from home to read in the morning until we can go to the library. 7- Students have Phys. Ed on Tuesdays and Fridays all year !! They need a change of clothes and indoor sneakers. Parent/teacher appointment sheets have been sent home last Friday. The time slots are filing in quickly. A reminder that you need an appointment to see us on Wednesday or Thursday.
A permission slip to participate in our school's fundraiser has also been sent home on Friday. MERCI BEAUCOUP to all the parents that took time to come in and met with us for parent teacher last week. Your involvement is greatly appreciated!!
Danse: Thursday, Nov. 30th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Cost is 5$ (pay at the door). Monday, Dec. 4th : Students will be starting Music (room 234). They will be done Art this Friday. Speaking French: This is crucial to learning a new language. Students must make an effort to speak French in all immersion classrooms. REPORT CARDS : Students are bringing home report cards today ! Please send back the envelope with your initials (you can write - 1st report and sign) back to me. You don't need to send back the report card. I have a copy. If you are coming for parent-teacher on Thursday or Friday, we can discuss any concerns you do have. Reminder that the meetings are 10 minutes only. If you wish to discuss more, we can always schedule a different appointment time next week after school.
Thanks for you cooperation on this !! We had a great trip to the Huntsman Marine Centre. Students learned a lot and got to use a microscope to see "du phytoplancton" et "du zooplancton". They also had the opportunity to touch : common crabs; hermit crabs; sea stars; scallops; etc. IT WAS AWESOME !! VERY EDUCATIONAL ! Student were all well behaved !! BRAVO !!!
Please remind your child about the importance of : a) staying on task in class b) speaking in French in class c) being prepared for class d) finishing work and studying e) listening & looking at the teachers in class f) asking questions or coming for help All these might be simple things but they are really important to be successful at school !! Merci for your continued support !!! Huntsman Marine Centre : There is a permission slip going home today for our outing this Friday. The cost is 2$ . Students need to bring a lunch.
Wednesday, November 8th - No school for students !! Monday, November 13th - No school for students Le jour du Souvenir !! Students should be reviewing their subjects daily. It is important also for them to ask questions or come for help when they need it !! Sorry about not updating before now !! Yesterday, our internet was down AND we lost power !!
Reminder that tomorrow Wednesday, Oct. 25th if 1/2 day !! Students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. To be successful in immersion, students needs to : 1- Look at the teacher 2- Listen to the instructions given (not play with pencils, chains, erasers, etc.) 3- Work in class 4- Review/study at home 5- Ask questions/come for extra help 6- Speak French in the classroom (as much as they can)! 7- Participate Some students are sitting in class and are not really being part of their learning. Please talk about the importance of the list above with your child. Students can't/won't learn if they don't try their best !! Children's Wish : Our annual walk is tomorrow in the afternoon!! Make sure to wear proper footwear !!
Thanks again to parents for your support with this fundraiser !!! Math Help : Mme Schofield gives math help every Wednesday at lunch. Great job to all students who attend this !! Way to "OWN IT" Broncos !!!! Next Wednesday, Oct. 25th is another HALF day !! Children's Wish : Students need to bring in all pledge sheets and money TOMORROW !! The walk will be on Thursday afternoon so wear proper footwear.
Tomorrow is PINK and SLIPPER day !! Cost 1$ each. Thanks for all your hard work !!! SPEAKING FRENCH : Students should try their hardest to speak French in all of the immersion classes. Practice !! Practice !! Practice !!! Homework : Notebooks/duotangs should be coming home on a regular basis. Students who review/study/finish homework will benefit in the FI program. |
